Project Comes on Cusp of the Organization's Centennial Anniversary; Governor Manchin and Stephen D. Bechtel Lead Partnership Effort
On November 18th, the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) will formally unveil
its plans for property recently acquired in the New River Gorge region
of West Virginia. BSA's selection of the 10,600-acre site near Beckley
was made possible, in part, by a $50 million gift, the largest in
Scouting history, from the S. D. Bechtel, Jr. Foundation. The new site
will help the BSA fulfill its mission of serving America's youth for
another 100 years.
WHAT: Formal celebration and naming of a center of Scouting
excellence in West Virginia

- Don Striker, Superintendent, New River Gorge National River
- Matt Wender, Fayette County Board of Commissioners
